President Biden suggested on Thursday that “MAGA Republicans” embrace an “extreme ideology” that includes opposition to abortion. His comments came during what has been described as a dark speech at Independence National Historic Park in Philadelphia. In it, he took aim at attempts to challenge the 2020 presidential election results but also called out several other traditionally conservative positions.
“MAGA forces are determined to take this country backwards — backwards to an America where there is no right to choose, no right to privacy, no right to contraception, no right to marry who you love,” he said.
