British Prime Minister Boris Johnson agreed Thursday to resign, after days of resignations from his government left him unable to govern.
Johnson up until Wednesday, was steadfast about remaining as prime minister. But he finally agreed to step down after close ally Treasury Chief Nadhim Zahawi told him to do so for the good of the country, according to the Associated Press .
Zahawi’s intervention followed two more members of Johnson’s Cabinet recently resigning, along with three junior officials, bringing the number of those who have left the government this week to over 50.
