Americans Are Fighting a 9-Front Spiritual War and We’re All Engaged in Battle

There is a habit of mind that has cost this country dearly, and it goes like this. We treat the socialist surge as a political problem, the Islamist advance as a foreign policy problem, the border as a security problem, the corruption of our children as an education problem, and the slow strangulation of dissent as a tech problem. Nine problems, nine committees, nine sets of experts, nine losing efforts. The truth is simpler and far more sobering.

These are not nine wars. They are nine fronts in one war, and the war is spiritual. Scripture told us as much long before any of us cast a ballot; we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world. The fronts are visible, physical, and political. The war behind them is not.

You do not need to share that theology to see the battlefield. This is worth stating plainly, because the enemies of this nation would love nothing more than to convince the secular patriot that the “spiritual war” talk is church business and none of his concern.

Nonsense. The forces working to dismantle America are coming for the believer and the unbeliever alike. They do not check church attendance before they indoctrinate your kids, freeze your accounts, flood your town, or censor your speech.

The Christian will fight with prayer, Scripture, and the confidence that the outcome is already written. The non-Christian patriot will fight from his own convictions about liberty, family, and truth. Both are standing on the same wall. What follows is a map of the nine fronts where that wall is under assault.

The Red Front

Marxism no longer bothers with the disguise. The Democratic Socialists of America now claims more than 120,000 members, making it by its own count the largest socialist organization in American history, and its candidates have torn through Democrat primaries this cycle with dozens of victories, including sitting members of Congress knocked out in a single night.

The mayor of America’s largest city is one of theirs. Their platform calls for state ownership of private corporations, abolition of ICE, abolition of prisons, and, tellingly, abolition of the Senate and the Supreme Court. When a movement’s stated goals include dismantling the constitutional structures that restrain raw majoritarian power, believe it. The Red front is the most electorally advanced of the nine, because it found a hollowed-out Democrat Party to serve as its host, and the host has stopped resisting.

The Green Front

Islamism plays a longer game, and it plays it patiently. When Ayatollah Khamenei died in February, Western Islamists and their fellow travelers made pilgrimage to Tehran to honor a tyrant whose regime slaughtered tens of thousands of its own people, and they did it while Americans were celebrating our 250th birthday. The symbolism was not accidental. Political Islam’s ambition has never been coexistence within the American order; it is the eventual replacement of that order with one submitted to Sharia.

The Green front is not a religion of a billion and a half people. It is a political ideology with a supremacist end state, and it has learned that the American system’s tolerance can be weaponized against the American system itself.

Where Red Meets Green

Here is the question that should keep the honest leftist up at night. Why do avowed atheist materialists march arm in arm with men who believe apostates should be executed? As I argued in June, strip the Red-Green alliance down to its frame and there is nothing inside it. No shared vision, no common blueprint. The Marxist wants a godless world; the Islamist wants a world under total religious rule. What binds them is everything they hate, and what they hate is us.

The Christian West, the American founding, the family, the free market, and above all the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Alliances of hatred are historically fragile, and the Islamists have a documented habit of liquidating their leftist partners the moment power is secured; ask the Iranian communists of 1979, if you can find any who survived. But fragile alliances can still do generational damage before they collapse, and this one is doing it now.

The Border Front

An open border is not a policy failure. It is a force multiplier for every other front. Millions of unvetted crossings over the last decade did not merely strain schools and hospitals; they imported an electorate-in-waiting for the Red front, operational cover for the Green front, and a fentanyl pipeline that has buried more Americans than most of our wars combined. The current administration has slowed the flood, but the damage of the deluge years remains embedded in the country, and the political machinery that engineered it is openly campaigning to reopen the gates.

Anyone who tells you border security is a standalone issue has not been paying attention to who benefits from its absence.

The Moral Front

Every conquering ideology in history has understood that you take a nation by taking its children. The moral front is the assault on the family, on innocence, and on the created order itself; the insistence that a boy can be a girl, that parents are obstacles rather than authorities, that the state and the algorithm should disciple your kids while you watch. This front is the most spiritual of the nine in its character, because it does not seek territory or treasure. It seeks souls, and it seeks them young. A nation that cannot say what a woman is will not long remember what a nation is.

They which builded on the wall, and they that bare burdens, with those that laded, every one with one of his hands wrought in the work, and with the other hand held a weapon.

Nehemiah’s men rebuilt Jerusalem’s wall under constant threat, trowel in one hand and sword in the other, and that is the posture this moment demands. Not retreat, not rage, but building and defending at once. Keep that image in mind as we turn to the fronts that are less visible but no less dangerous.

The Financial Front

Control the money and you control the man. For years, banks quietly closed the accounts of Christian ministries, gun dealers, and conservative organizations under the banner of “reputation risk,” a practice so widespread that it took an executive order to force regulators to stop encouraging it. Do not mistake that order for victory. The infrastructure of financial coercion (programmable digital currencies, ESG scoring, de-banking on ideological grounds) is built and waiting for friendlier management. A population that can be switched off with a keystroke does not need to be persuaded, conquered, or even censored. It only needs to be reminded who holds the switch.

The Globalist Front

Above the national fights sits a class of unelected institutions working to make national fights irrelevant. The World Economic Forum’s vision of managed populations, the World Health Organization’s push for authority over sovereign pandemic responses, the endless treaties and frameworks and compacts, all of it flows one direction, away from the ballot box and toward the boardroom. The pitch is always efficiency and safety. The price is always sovereignty. A government accountable to Davos is by definition not accountable to Dubuque, and the men writing these frameworks know it. That is the point of the frameworks.

The Technological Front

The censorship regime of the last decade was crude; deplatforming, shadow bans, “misinformation” panels staffed by people who were wrong about everything. What is coming is subtler. Artificial intelligence is being positioned as an oracle, a neutral arbiter of truth that just happens to be trained, tuned, and aligned by the same coastal monoculture that brought you every failed narrative of the past ten years. Pair that with surveillance capabilities no Stasi officer dared dream of, and you have the machinery for a control state that never needs to raise its voice. Technology is not the enemy; the question, as always, is who wields it and toward what end. Right now the honest answer should trouble you.

The Pharmakeia Front

The Greek word behind “sorcery” in Revelation is pharmakeia, and whatever one makes of that etymology, the modern war on the American body is not subtle. A food supply engineered for addiction and disease, a medical establishment that treats symptoms and manages decline rather than pursuing health, a pharmaceutical industry with legal immunity and a customer base medicated from cradle to grave. A sick, dependent, foggy population does not resist much of anything. Health freedom is not a crunchy lifestyle preference; it is a front in this war, which is why growing your own food and taking ownership of your family’s health have become quietly radical acts.

The Church Front

The last front is the one the enemy prizes most, because it is the one front where he wins by our surrender rather than his strength. Attacks on American churches have surged; the Family Research Council has documented nearly 1,400 acts of hostility against U.S. churches since 2018, and watchdogs report the trend accelerating, with vandalism, arson, and worse. But the graver threat is not the brick through the window. It is the pulpit that trims the Gospel to fit the culture, the congregation that treats faith as a weekend amenity, the believer who has been discipled into silence. A sleeping church is the enemy’s quietest and cheapest victory. He does not need to burn down what we have already abandoned.

One War, One Wall

Nine fronts sounds like despair until you remember what it actually means. It means the enemy has to defend nine fronts too. Every homeschooling family, every parallel economy dollar, every local election won, every church that recovers its spine, every neighbor who learns to grow food and speak truth without flinching is ground taken back.

The believer fights on his knees first and knows how the story ends; the patriot beside him fights from love of country and family; and the coalition of the two is precisely what the other side fears, which is why so much effort goes into convincing us we have nothing in common. We are all engaged in this battle whether we enlisted or not. The only real choice left is whether we fight it with one hand on the work and the other on the sword, or whether we set both down and let the wall fall.
