According to the state’s Born Alive Infants Protection Act, a born-alive infant resulting from an induced abortion is recognized as a living human. The law requires that “reasonable measures consistent with good medical practice shall be taken by the responsible medical personnel to preserve the life and health of the born alive infant.”
“For the calendar year of January 1, 2021, through December 31, 2021, 5 abortion procedures resulting in a born-alive infant were reported,” the health department report detailed.
