Hamtramck, a Muslim-dominated city in Michigan, is celebrating making the city ‘ fagless ,’ after the local council voted to ban LGBTQIA+ Pride flags from being flown or displayed on public property.
The city – which was featured heavily in National Pulse editor Raheem Kassam’s 2017 bestseller ‘No Go Zones’ – voted unanimously last Wednesday in favor of a resolution which also prohibits displaying flags with ethnic, political, or racial views.
“I’m working for the people, what the majority of the people like,” said council member Mohammed Hassan.
Another councillor, Nadeem Choudhury, asked , “why do you have to have the flag shown on government property to be represented? You’re already represented.
