House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has ordered a probe into the prosecutors reportedly planning to indict 45th President Donald Trump on Tuesday, describing the planned action as a “an outrageous abuse of power.”
Trump posted news of his impending arrest on Truth social on Saturday, informing supporters that he would be arrested on Tuesday. On the heels of this news, McCarthy announced plans to investigate those pursuing Trump legally.
“Here we go again,” wrote McCarthy, describing the planned arrest as “an outrageous abuse of power by a radical DA” who is soft on violent crime in the district “as he pursues political vengeance” against Trump and his Republican voters.
