Former Vice President Mike Pence has received a subpoena from the DOJ-appointed special counsel investigating former President Donald Trump, according to ABC News, which cited “multiple sources familiar with the matter.”
The outlet did not specify what information special counsel Jack Smith sought from Pence, but noted that the subpoena followed months of negotiations between the feds and Pence’s attorneys.
Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Smith in November 2022 following Trump’s announcement that he would seek the presidency in 2024. Smith has taken on the DOJ’s investigations pertaining to Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified materials and any alleged unlawful interference in the 2020 election by the former president or his associates.
