With the roaring, record-setting success of its norm-breaking creation “VACCINE,” Moderna has apparently decided to follow it up with an ambitious sequel, “VACCINE II: TUMORS:” Pharma giants Merck and Moderna have teamed up to develop a cancer vaccine that is based on the same tech used in Covid shots.
The new shot — designed for people with high-risk melanoma — is in the second of three trials and a verdict on whether it works or not is expected within months.
It harnesses mRNA technology that uses pieces of genetic code from patients’ tumors to teach the body to fight off the cancer.
