Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo, R, has surged to a significant lead in the race for the Nevada governor’s mansion, a recent survey showed.
Lombardo beat out incumbent Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak with 48.5% to 42.8% among likely voters in an American Greatness/InsiderAdvantage poll, released this week. That 5.7% lead is outside of the survey’s +/- 4.2% margin of error.
Lombardo has consistently held a lead over his Democratic rival in nearly every poll and the RealClearPolitics polling average currently gives him a 2.3% lead overall.
Sisolak is seeking reelection after first winning office in 2018. He succeeded Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval, who served two terms.In the Senate contest, former Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt, R, held a narrower 1.9% lead over incumbent Democratic Sen.
