A 26-year-old Eritrean migrant brutally attacked a 55-year-old Italian woman and a 16-year-old girl at Zurich’s central train station on Sunday evening. Both women had to be hospitalized, the first with serious head injuries, police said in a statement Monday.
Unprovoked, the migrant viciously punched and kicked the Italian woman. Even when she lay motionless on the floor, he continued beating her. “She was unconscious, lying in her own pool of blood,” said a 28-year-old eyewitness. The migrant also attacked a 16-year-old girl who tried to come to the injured woman’s aid.
Police report that the two injured women are accidental victims. “The victims and perpetrators did not know each other.” Further investigations into the crime and the circumstances are ongoing. However, the police have found that there have been more clashes in the central station in recent months.
