Trump spoke to the nation in a live, prime-time address from the White House, centering his remarks on economic conditions. During a panel on “The Source With Kaitlan Collins,” the host asked whether the president demonstrated empathy during his remarks.
“No, I just think it’s a mistake, and, listen, if he stays there, Democrats [are] gonna have a great year. He’s gonna have to move off of that because right now he just says everything’s fantastic,” Jones told Collins.

“If it’s not fantastic [then] blame Biden. That’s not gonna work. And I think the other thing I think it’s gonna be important for people to keep in mind, you have a bunch of young people who bet on Donald Trump,” Jones added. “They graduated off a cliff into an economy where there is no hope for them. He’s not talking to them.”
Jones said the disconnect risks turning early support into frustration.
“You have a bunch of Latin people who bet on Donald Trump, and they wanted the bad guys taken out of their neighborhood,” Jones said. “There’s too much activity going on where normal people are scared. A lot of people bet on Trump. And right now they’ve got buyer’s remorse. If he stays on this message then it is great for Democrats.”
This isn’t the first time Trump has touted his economic success, as he made similar remarks at a rally in Pennsylvania. The president said recent data and price trends show the economy moving in the right direction, even as voters continue to worry about the cost of living.
Trump said Americans are seeing relief across everyday expenses such as groceries, gasoline, rent, and health care, which he framed as proof his policies are working. He sharply criticized Obamacare, saying it funneled massive sums to insurance companies instead of helping individuals, and vowed to redirect federal dollars straight to consumers so they can purchase their own coverage.
Trump also pointed to falling egg prices as a concrete example, crediting his administration and Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins while contrasting current costs with price increases under former President Joe Biden. He further highlighted the lower gas prices and record domestic energy production.
