Original Article: The White House was thrust into lockdown Saturday evening after reports of multiple shots fired in the vicinity of the executive mansion, prompting swift action by the Secret Service.
Correspondents on the scene described hearing 20-30 rounds fired near the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, with agents urgently directing press to take cover and move into the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room. Early reports indicate two men were shot with one believed to be the gunman.
Armed Secret Service personnel were observed with weapons drawn across the grounds as the complex was secured. President Donald Trump, who had been in the Oval Office announcing progress toward a deal to end the conflict with Iran, remained safe inside with no injuries reported to him or other protectees.
