President Joe Biden tested positive for Covid-19 and is experiencing “mild symptoms,” the White House announced on Thursday morning.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre released a statement confirming that the “fully vaccinated and twice boosted” Biden, who has repeatedly and incorrectly claimed that people who get the Covid-19 jab can’t spread the virus, began taking Paxlovid, commonly known as the Covid pill, to treat symptoms related to the virus. Despite his condition, Jean-Pierre said Biden still plans to “carry out all of his duties fully” from quarantine.
“He has been in contact with members of the White House staff by phone this morning, and will participate in his planned meetings at the White House this morning via phone and Zoom from the residence,” Jean-Pierre wrote.
